Where booking apps genuinely win
If your car fails somewhere unfamiliar, a nationwide network beats a local garage every time. Same if you need a job done at your office car park during the working day, or if it is a Sunday and nothing local is open.
They are also good for jobs where you already know exactly what is needed. A battery, a set of front pads, a service on a car with no warning lights. The work is defined, so a fixed online price is a fair way to buy it.
Where a local garage wins
The gap opens up when nobody knows what is wrong yet. An app quote needs you to name the job, but a knocking noise over speed bumps could be a drop link, a bush, a shock, or a loose heat shield. Booking apps solve a real problem, which is finding someone trustworthy when you have no idea who to call. If that is your situation, use one.
