Tyre Puncture Repair Cost in Ashford Repair or Replace? (2026)

By Salek Tyre & Mechanic · Ashford, TW15

A puncture doesn't always mean a new tyre. In many cases a permanent repair costs £10–£25 and has you back on the road in under 30 minutes. Here's exactly when a puncture can be repaired, when it can't, and what to expect at Salek in Ashford TW15.

How much does a tyre puncture repair cost in Ashford?

A standard puncture repair in Ashford costs between £10 and £25 for most vehicles. The repair involves removing the tyre from the rim, fitting a vulcanised plug-patch from the inside, and refitting and rebalancing the wheel this is the only method approved under British Standard BS AU 159.

If the tyre cannot be repaired and needs replacing, you'll pay for the new tyre plus fitting. See our tyre fitting cost guide for prices by size and brand.

Can every puncture be repaired?

No. Under British Standard guidelines, a tyre can only be permanently repaired if all of the following apply:

We inspect the tyre fully before quoting. If it's repairable, we fix it. If not, we tell you straight and give you a replacement price we don't push people into new tyres they don't need.

Sidewall punctures cannot be repaired legally. If your tyre is punctured in the sidewall even by a small nail it must be replaced. The sidewall flexes continuously with every rotation and a repair would fail under load. This is non-negotiable under UK standards.

How long does a puncture repair take?

A straightforward repair typically takes 20–30 minutes. We remove the wheel, take the tyre off the rim, inspect the inside, apply the plug-patch, refit and rebalance. Most customers wait at the garage and are back on the road within half an hour.

What if I've been driving on a flat tyre?

Driving on a flat or severely under-inflated tyre even for a short distance can cause internal structural damage that isn't visible from the outside. If you've driven on a flat, we'll inspect the tyre fully before deciding whether a repair is safe. In most cases, driving on a flat ruins the tyre completely and replacement is the only option.

If you have a run-flat tyre, it's designed to be driven on at reduced speed for a limited distance. See our guide: Run-flat tyres explained.

What about tyre inflation foam / repair kits?

Many newer cars come with an inflation sealant kit instead of a spare wheel. These seal a small puncture temporarily and get you to a garage, but the foam contaminates the inside of the tyre and wheel. Once inflation foam has been used, permanent repair is not possible the tyre must be replaced. Let us know if you've used a sealant kit so we can factor that in.
